The “Radicalization” advice center in the BAMF has been offering since 2012 a first point of contact by telephone for those seeking advice who fear that a person in their area will radicalize Islamistically. The counseling center supports affected people from all over Germany and can be reached on workdays from 9 am to 3 pm. In an initial meeting, experienced and specially trained employees clarify the concerns of those seeking advice, offer initial assistance and, if necessary, provide information to an on-site advice center in the respective federal state. In addition, the staff at the “Radicalization” advice center answer frequently asked questions on the topics of radicalization and Islamism and arrange offers of help, such as local self-help groups.
In addition to providing advice to those seeking advice by telephone, the advice center has established various exchange formats within a network of the federal government, the federal states and civil society. As a result, the experts at the advice center are in close professional exchange with the various actors involved in the de-radicalization work in order to continuously develop the range of advice available.
There is also close cooperation with the BAMF research center to provide scientific support for the work of the advice center “Radicalization” and its cooperation partners.
